Flashes of Hope<\/a> (FOH) to make a small difference in the lives of a couple of dozen families with children battling cancer. \u00a0These kids, patients of Childrens Hospital, spent the weekend at an amazing camp outside Meridian, Texas, which features a pool, arts and crafts, hundreds of acres of Oak Tree-studded hills, wild deer running the length and breadth of the property – and fishing in a stocked lake. \u00a0This is one of the most incredible camps I’ve ever seen. \u00a0Everyone from the camp, FOH and Childrens Hospital were terrific and the kids and their families had the opportunity to leave their day-to-day concerns behind, if only for a weekend.<\/p>\nOur part was to provide portraits for these brave families, so we set up under an enormous Oak Tree, right next to the lake and did exactly that for most of the day.<\/p>\n
If you ever think you’re having a bad day, just consider these plucky kids who are battling a life-threatening disease you will hopefully never be touched, let alone ravaged by. \u00a0Almost every person we came in contact with was spending the day enjoying their family, the outdoors and their good fortune with a smile for everyone. \u00a0I’d like to think I could do the same thing but \u00a0I also hope I never have to find out.<\/p>\n
