Constipation

Battling this little problem for several years makes you an expert on the topic.  Problem is, when you change your dosage of painkillers (more on bad days – less on good days) your requirements for Fiber Supplements / Magnesium / Stool Softeners / Enemas / Gerbils  and Small Explosives vary as well.  You can imagine the results of a mis-calculation in either direction for any of these solutions, right?  And you can also tell I am NOT suggesting explosives of any kind as a solution for constipation, right?

My recommendation is to write in a journal every single day and keep track of:

  • Your pain levels throughout the day
  • Your activity levels
  • What you take for pain relief – and when
  • How you feel afterward
  • What you eat and when
  • What you take to stay regular – and when
  • How much water you consume (this is critical for regularity.)  Trying to squeeze out and pinch off a brick is a lot more difficult, painful and potentially destructive (can you say “anal tear”) than trying the same thing with a fresh tube of Polenta (all I could think of…)

I think that’s about enough on this topic…

What a long sad story. I know you have a long journey ahead of you, but hope this provides a more permanent fix to your problems.
