Organizing your Stuff

It is likely you will accrue a substantial collection of “stuff” (remember what George Carlin had to say about Stuff?) that needs to follow you from place to place around the house, to the doctor, etc.  It makes life a lot easier if you can find something that will do everything at once.  Whatever this thing is, it must have certain characteristics:

Stacking Storage Boxes
Stacking Storage Boxes
  • It needs to look Nice.  Your Camo Range Bag is NOT OK. (ask your wife)
  • It needs to weigh ++  no more than what you’re allowed by your doctor to pick up.(in my case that’s 8 lbs)
  • This number will likely increase as your recovery progresses.
  • It should be compact
  • Something on wheels you can roll behind you is a good idea.  Takes a lot of stress off your back – and your mate.
  • The Container Store is your friend when it comes to things like this.  One of my favorite stacking containers is made by them.  It’s a frosted white, strong and contemporary looking box – with casters as an option.  I have an almost 6′ high stack of the smaller ones with casters on the base unit.  I can move the whole stack from one room to another easily.  You could easily attach a lanyard to make dragging it behind you pretty simple.  I don’t have an exact weight on each component, but they’re pretty light.  The sides are perforated into roughly 1/2″ square openings.

Small Stacking Storage Box (the one I use)
10″ x 20″ x 8-1/8″ h
371010 – $10.99 ea

Large Stacking Storage Box
14-5/8″ x 20″ x 8-1/8″ h
371020 – $12.99 ea

Stacking Storage Box Casters Set of 4
371030 – $4.99 per set
