We have made several trips to The Big Apple, so this time I did not capture my usual architectural selection of dramatic skyscraper shots. I’ve done that and have a sizable library of NYC images as a result. This time we focused on showing my son around the City and chose the classics: Liberty Island, Ellis Island, Grand Central Terminal and of course, One World Trade Center – or Freedom Tower as most people seem to call it.
Several new dramatic images are in production, some of which are included in this blog.
I was fascinated by the myriad assortment of bicycles chained, locked, cabled and intertwined with various security anchors throughout the City. Some clearly had been in the same place for a decade or more. Others were obviously in current use – and then there were the in-between and indistinct relics.
I felt a Selective Color approach was perfect for this collection and am working on “Chained” – hopefully to be a coffee table book in the near future.
Top of my list so far is “Freedom”
Freedom Tower (One World Trade Center for those who want to be picky) wrapped in an American flag as viewed from Ellis Island.
The stainless steel wall in the foreground is inscribed on both sides with the names of those who came to this country in search of freedom and opportunity.
The flag is from a 2008 firefighters memorial in Denton, Texas.

Based on requests from some of our booth visitors at the Deep Ellum Arts Festival over the weekend, I have crafted some new additions to my Tr?Z collection which can be found on my Vivid Pixelz website.
The Tr?Z collection is comprised of vividly manipulated (predominantly) Winter trees, twisted into a dimensionally different view. Many of these images look alien, most are vivid (some are monochromatic) and all look very different from any native growth you’ve ever seen before.
All images are available from 16×20 matted prints to massive stretched canvases or luster-finish framed prints. All finished prints (canvas or framed) are signed and numbered Limited Editions of 100. The largest prints are nine feet wide!
One of the newest additions:
Since more of my work is headed in the direction of original digital art and not remotely photographic in nature, it seemed a new website / identity was required. Several domains are registered and parked as a result and VividPixelz.net is currently the active domain for this unique content. While it’s not complete or even fully functional just yet, there are some full galleries online for you to browse. The updates and news will continue to be published right here. This is our clearing house for all Press Releases and news regarding any information relative to my creative endeavors.
So keep your eyes peeled for updates and take a look at the new galleries when you have a few minutes.
And check out the new site. This is the location for my Visceral Vulcan series of abstract art, the Vortex abstract art series and my Alien Vistas project.
In the process of editing my gallery of images, I decided on an entirely new approach in terms of producing an identifiable style and size of print I can reproduce reasonably and with a consistent size as well as style. This has resulted in the Vortex Abstract Series.
The images in this series all have a similar (although each is uniquely processed) style and are produced in 4 sizes of framed prints:
- 12″ Square (unlimited edition) – $77.00
- 24″ square / 34″ Diagonal (Limited Edition of 100) – $777.00
- 36″ Square / 52″ Diagonal (Limited Edition of 100) – $1,777.00
- 42″ Square / 60″ Diagonal (Limited Edition of 100) – $3,177.00
This makes for a nice grid-style display. All images are distinct with vivid contrasting colors and elements which make a dramatic impact.
We are producing framed Limited Editions of these prints. Feel free to contact me for availability.
The gallery of available images is right here.
A new website is being launched, dedicated exclusively to my digital art. Stay tuned for the announcement
